CRA board sets a Saturday workshop at City Hall

The May 30 meeting is outside the board's usual Tuesday evening rhythm.

The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency Board has scheduled a workshop for Saturday, May 30, at 9 a.m. in the Commission Chambers at City Hall, 100 E. Ocean Avenue. The date stands out because the CRA page says regular board meetings are normally held on the second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the same room.

The posted notice does not list a workshop agenda on the page, so this is one to follow without overreading it. What is confirmed: the public can participate through the LiveToAir link, the YouTube livestream link was still listed as TBA, and the CRA says the same page is where agendas, minutes, and videos can be accessed. If you want to follow the discussion, the safest plan is to check the CRA meetings page again before Saturday or attend in person.

The CRA is tied to downtown and corridor redevelopment work, business promotions, and public-facing projects inside its district. A Saturday workshop does not tell residents what decision is coming next, but it does give anyone tracking downtown Boynton a concrete place to pay attention this week.

Two chicken spots now have very different timelines

Cluck Face is orderable now; C.R. Chicks is a reported fall opening.

Boynton's chicken news is easy to blur together, so separate the two updates. Cluck Face is the one listed for ordering now: its Boynton page shows a location at 1787 N. Congress Ave., Suite G-A2, with pickup and delivery available. The menu leans Nashville hot, with tenders, sliders, loaded specials, fries, mac and cheese, rice, sauces, drinks, and desserts. The page also lists (561) 739-8043 and hours of 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily.

C.R. Chicks is the future item. What Now Miami reported that the locally owned rotisserie chicken restaurant plans a Boynton Beach location at 6677 Boynton Beach Blvd., in the Publix-anchored center at the northwest corner of Boynton Beach Boulevard and Jog Road, with a reported fall 2026 opening.

The distinction is simple: Cluck Face is a current dinner option. C.R. Chicks is for later, not a place to drive to tonight.

First Friday gets a dinosaur-themed summer kickoff

The June 5 event adds library programming, children's music, and Cover to Cover.

First Friday @ 5 returns Friday, June 5, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Centennial Park & Amphitheater, 120 East Ocean Ave. The city calendar lists it as free, with food trucks, live music, interactive activities, and family fun.

June's version has a specific hook: it is being run in partnership with the Boynton Beach City Library as a dinosaur-themed summer kickoff. The city page lists a Noam Brown children's performance from 5 to 6 p.m., live music by Cover to Cover from 6 to 9 p.m., a special appearance from Dewey the Velociraptor, fossil activities, and reading-station tie-ins.

That gives the evening a useful split. Families with younger kids should target the 5 p.m. hour. Anyone mainly coming for the music can treat 6 to 9 p.m. as the main window.

Business Over Brews is back June 4

The networking event is set for 5 to 7 p.m., but the location is still TBD.

Local owners and operators have another Business Over Brews date on the calendar: Thursday, June 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. The city's listing keeps the pitch simple: bring business cards, meet people, reconnect, win prizes, and hear about Economic Development programs meant to help Boynton Beach businesses grow.

The detail to check before you go is the venue. The event page still lists the location as TBD, with the address field showing Boynton Beach, FL 33435. For questions or the final location, the city lists 561-742-6205 and keleherm@bbfl.us.

This is not a big public festival item; it is a practical small-business calendar note. If you are trying to get plugged into the local business network, it is worth checking the city page again before June 4.

Rock the Plaza brings Spred the Dub to One Boynton

The CRA series lands at 1501 Federal Highway on June 25.

Looking later into June, the CRA's Rock the Plaza series is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, from 5 to 9 p.m. at One Boynton, 1501 Federal Highway. The featured band is Spred the Dub.

The point of the series is not only the music. The CRA says Rock the Plaza is built to spotlight plazas inside the BBCRA area and encourage people to visit nearby local businesses and restaurants. The activations can include live music, entertainment, family-friendly activities, product samples, discounts, or special offers from participating businesses.

For residents, that makes it a low-pressure way to see a plaza that may normally be part of the drive-by landscape. For businesses, it is one of the CRA's more direct attempts to turn an event into foot traffic.

Library tech help is open for drop-ins

The city lists no registration and Saturday help for devices, apps, email, and e-readers.

The Boynton Beach City Library is still running Drop-In Tech Help Saturdays, and the city library page describes it as exactly what it sounds like: one-on-one help for smartphones, tablets, laptops, apps, email, internet basics, e-readers, the digital library, and similar questions.

The current city page says the program runs every other Saturday starting April 11, with no registration required. It lists drop-in hours as 9 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 5 p.m. The library is at 100 E. Ocean Avenue.

This is the kind of small city service that is easy to miss until you need it. If you have a device question that is too minor for a repair shop but too annoying to keep ignoring, this is a no-appointment place to start.
