Hurricane Alley changes course: Paloma replaces The Pierce
An 8 a.m. remembrance ceremony, holiday plans for families and a new destination for Hurricane Alley.
After 30 years in its current home, Hurricane Alley must leave by the end of September. Owner Kim Kelly has found an existing restaurant space for the move, changing the plan that would have put the business inside The Pierce development.
Owner Kim Kelly announced on September 3 that she had reached an agreement to take over Paloma Mexican Restaurant at 510 E. Ocean Avenue, across the street. That replaces the restaurant’s long-planned move into a new building at The Pierce.
The Coastal Star’s updated report says Hurricane Alley must close at its current location by the end of September; the building is slated for demolition for The Pierce. Kelly hopes to reopen in the Paloma space around Thanksgiving.
Green Cay’s expansion pairs trails with water purification
Walking and hiking trails, waterways, a pavilion and parking are planned for Green Cay Phase II. A boardwalk is eventually intended to connect the new park to the existing wetlands.
The wider project includes an advanced purification facility intended initially to produce up to 2 million gallons a day to replenish groundwater, plus a water-conservation learning center. The Boynton Weekly’s September 8 report puts the expected opening of the expanded facilities in early 2027.

Rosh Hashanah begins the evening of September 11 and continues through September 13. The children’s activities run alongside the main service, and parents are welcome to join their children for the first day’s program.
Register through the center’s Kids’ Program page, which has selections for each Rosh Hashanah day. RSVP is mandatory; the $18 per child is described as a suggested donation.
Two alternatives emerge for Boynton’s water utility
At an August 31 budget workshop, Ocean Ridge Town Manager Michelle Heiser described talks with Boynton about an independent authority to run Boynton’s drinking-water facilities. Other communities receiving Boynton water, including Briny Breezes, Hypoluxo and Gulf Stream, could also participate.
Boynton has also been discussing a county takeover with Palm Beach County, The Coastal Star reported. Heiser identified $300,000 for studies or consultants if needed and said an authority could assume infrastructure obligations such as Ocean Ridge’s water-pipe replacement program.
