Mangrove Manor gets its ribbon cutting Wednesday evening

The Schoolhouse Children's Museum at 129 E. Ocean Ave. has a new permanent interactive exhibit called Mangrove Manor, and the ribbon cutting is Wednesday, July 29, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The exhibit is a hands-on recreation of mangrove habitat that teaches children about Florida coastal ecosystems, and children can climb, crawl, and explore it while learning about native wildlife and environmental conservation. WFLX reports that it introduces children to how mangrove forests protect Florida coastlines, support marine life, and preserve waterways, with educational material about fish, birds, and other native species along the way. It joins more than a dozen interactive exhibits in the museum's two-story building. Mangrove Manor was made possible through an Impact 100 Palm Beach County grant, and the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches is partnering on Wednesday's ceremony. Boynton's free-chlorination period ends Thursday
Boynton Beach Water Utility has been using free chlorination since July 9, and the period runs through Thursday, July 30. This is routine preventive maintenance, not a response to contamination. The city's FAQ describes it as something done routinely once or twice a year for about three weeks, and hydrant flushing is part of the maintenance, so you may see it happening in predetermined areas around town. Residents may notice a slight change in taste or odor, and the water continues to meet federal and state standards. The city says people may use the water as usual for drinking, bathing, cooking, and laundry. If the taste or odor bothers you, the suggested approach is low-tech: keep an open container of drinking water in the refrigerator for a few hours and let the chlorine dissipate. Home dialysis users, aquarium owners, and businesses with fish-holding tanks should seek professional guidance, because removing chlorine is a different job than removing chloramine. A CareerSource representative is at the Boynton Beach City Library today, second floor, 100 E. Ocean Ave., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The help is personalized and covers employment and re-employment, resumes, filing for unemployment, and career paths, so it fits whether you are mid-search, freshly out of a job, or trying to work out what the next move even is. The representative speaks English, Creole, and French. The city's page says to stop by.
Build Your Typing Skills runs this evening
Build Your Typing Skills is today from 5 to 6:30 p.m., and it is pitched squarely at beginners. The class uses simple exercises and LearningExpress activities to cover keyboard fundamentals and to help people improve speed, accuracy, and general confidence at a computer.
