Fire-rescue fee ceiling advances to $170
Commissioners set a preliminary $170 maximum on fire-rescue assessments as the free Night Market returns downtown this weekend.
Boynton commissioners voted 5-0 on July 14 to advance a preliminary fire-rescue assessment ceiling of $170 per dwelling unit, up $25 from the current $145. The figure is a maximum for notice purposes only: Resolution R26-123 places $170 on this year's TRIM notices so the city cannot later charge above it, but the final rate is not set until commissioners take a second vote at 6 p.m. on Sept. 8 at City Hall. Preliminary non-residential rates were set at $0.38 per square foot for commercial property, $0.09 for industrial and warehouse space, and $0.42 apiece for institutional property and nursing homes. City staff estimated the higher assessment would raise roughly $1.5 million. Commissioners paired the increase with a proposed property-tax rollback from 7.775 mills to 7.4257 mills, a change that is also not yet final. (Boca Post)
Free Night Market returns downtown July 24-25
The free Boynton Beach Night Market returns Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25, from 5 to 11 p.m. at Centennial Park & Amphitheater, 120 E. Ocean Avenue, spilling into nearby downtown blocks. Both nights bring together Boynton restaurants, retailers and service businesses alongside live music, games and family activities. Teens can steer library services July 25
